Disney series ‘National Treasure’ gets a new title


Disney+ national treasure the series has a new title, National Treasure: Edge of History. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the new series is an exciting expansion on the national treasure franchise and takes place in the established universe with a younger cast of characters.

National Treasure: Edge of History clues will be revealed during Disney’s slate at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where the cast and executive producers will share an exclusive first behind-the-scenes look at the Disney+ original series.

The live-action series is an extension of the national treasure film franchise centered around a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful dreamer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and rescue a lost Pan Am treasure.

Lyndon Smith, Zuri Reed, Jake Austin Walker, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues and Jacob Vargas are also set to appear on the show. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the series’ villain, while Justin Barth reprises his role as Riley from both National Treasure films.

Franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer serves as an executive producer alongside Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, Kristie Anne Reed and Rick Muirragui, who is also a writer. Jon Turteltaub, who directed the films starring Nicolas Cage, is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing the series and executive producing.

A Disney-branded television series, national treasure is produced by ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios. Production is underway in Baton Rouge.
