Disney World guests at the Magic Kingdom experienced one hell of a scare that ended with Cinderella’s castle being evacuated and their stage show being canceled halfway through.
On Thursday, March 3, WDWNT posted updates from the 1:15 p.m. stage show, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which was canceled ahead of the grand finale.
The music cut off and an announcement played over the loudspeakers. He said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, this performance of Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire has been cancelled.” The actors and characters quickly left the stage.
Fans speculated that it had something to do with the fireworks that usually explode during the final number. The show has already been canceled due to weather conditions, injuries or technical malfunctions. Fans came to the conclusion as some people on site spotted a fireworks team outside the castle.
Meanwhile, Cinderella’s Royal Table, the restaurant inside the castle, has been evacuated. Emergency lights went out and fire alarms sounded every ten seconds. Officers arrived at the scene before Reedy Creek firefighters showed up. Photos in the report showed smoke coming from the second level.
According to another report, Cinderella’s castle was empty for about an hour. The Reedy Creek Fire Department was investigating at the time before giving the go-ahead where cast members were seen climbing the castle’s exterior stairs. Apparently patrons were allowed back into the establishment to complete their meals or were otherwise compensated.
It was not the first time that the castle had to be evacuated. Last year the castle had to be evacuated due to a small fire in a nearby tree which reportedly caught fire after a fireworks display during the “very unusual event”.
