• THROW YOUR CAR IN THE RIVER, it’s a FREE BIKETOWN WEEKEND! There are a song about it and all. According to Biketown, they’re offering free 60-minute rides by Sunday. Take part in the joys of driving a bright orange chariot around the fifth most bikeable city in the country. This front basket will be jettison your stuff, so make sure you over-elasticize it, or don’t put anything in it.
• Elected leaders are once again taking a heavy hit at the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program, where I-5 crosses from Oregon to Washington. Bike Portland reports that the two options on the table both resemble the failed 2013 Columbia River Crossing proposal. But there has been progress on the transit arm – they decided to put in a light rail line to connect the North Portland Expo Center to downtown Vancouver, WA.
• In response to a new report indicating that Oregon has invested at least $5.3 billion of public money in fossil fuel companies, a coalition of nearly 90 organizations is pushing the Treasury to divest.

• As the Russian invasion of Ukraine gathers momentum, Ukrainian officials say Russian forces have occupied more than three dozen small towns in their effort to seize the country’s eastern territories. At the same time, in Geneva, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights presented documents on the violence and mass murders discovered when Russian troops withdrew from previously occupied areas. “International humanitarian law has not simply been ignored, but seemingly sidelined,” Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said in a statement.
