Walt Disney World is removing the pre-purchase option for Disney Genie+, will only be available on the day of the visit

With the summer season fast approaching, Walt Disney World changes how some customers purchase the resort’s Genie+ service.

What is happening:

  • Starting June 8, Walt Disney World guests will only be able to purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of their visit, meaning they will no longer be able to select the service as part of an advance ticket supplement. .
  • Therefore, Annual Pass holders as well as multi-day or single-day ticket holders wishing to use Genie+ will need to purchase it through the My Disney Experience app on the day (or each day of) their visit.
  • In addition, the service will be “subject to availability”.
  • Despite the change, those who have already pre-purchased Disney Genie+ for visits in 2022 will continue to have their purchases honoured.
  • Note that, at this time, the change is only effective for Walt Disney World and not for the Disneyland Park.
  • According to Walt Disney World, they expect customers using Disney Genie+ to be able to access 2-3 attractions/experiences through Lightning Lane, assuming they make their first selection early in the day.
  • Elsewhere, Walt Disney World has announced that tickets, hotel stays and packages for 2023 will open on June 8.

What they say :

  • Walt Disney World: “Given the unique nature and size of Walt Disney World Resort, many considerations have gone into this update. We are focused on providing the best customer experience possible, and this adjustment will help manage the incredibly high demand our customers have shown for Disney Genie+.
